James Lafarelle Home

James Lafarelle Home
108 East Avenue F

This house was built sometime before 1900 and appears in a 1902 photo with a white stucco exterior at a time when few south side houses had stucco exteriors. James Lafarelle, born in England, came to the U.S. in 1880 and in 1899 married Concepcion Garcia in Alpine. They moved into the house shortly thereafter and raised a family of 9 children.

Mr. Lafarelleand his daughters eventually came into possession of four other houses and a store along 4th St., adjoining this home. This house passed to daughter Josefa and husband Domingo Borunda after Mr. Lafarelle’s death. Beginning in the late 1920s, another daughter, Beatrice, and her husband, Alberto Moreno, lived in the house.
